Social Media and Communications Associate 

Hours: 10-12/week

Hourly pay: $24/hour

Location: Remote with an option to work out of Confluence’s office in Vancouver, WA

Benefits: Paid vacation and 401K match up to 4%.

This role would assist in Confluence’s communications, which includes social media, aspects of the website such as the community calendar and news, plus the newsletter. They would be responsible for reaching out to staff to gather material for social media (such as photos and event descriptions), putting information about Confluence events and community events on the calendar, gathering materials for the newsletter, and monitoring the Confluence info email. They would work closely with the Editorial and Content Manager and Executive Director.

Qualifications:

  • Excited about Confluence’s mission
  • At least 2 years of experience in Communications and social media promotion or educational background
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Highly organized & has the ability to handle multiple deadlines
  • Attention to detail
  • Prior knowledge of social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn, and platforms such as Buffer, Google Drive, and WordPress is a plus.
  • Proficient in Zoom platform

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Interact and engage with staff to create social media and newsletter content that promotes Confluence’s programming
  • Update the community calendar on Confluence’s website
  • Participate in the development and implementation of a social media strategy
  • Track analytics to determine levels of social media engagement
  • Keep up on the latest social media trends and best practices and suggest ways to optimize content
  • Occasionally support events and programming
  • Attend virtual staff meetings – optional once a month in-person meeting
